Playstation 3 and More

Ok first of all

IP Kaur :
You have an infinite capacity for talking. That may not always be necessarily bad though.
When it comes to talking on the phone, you are the female version of Ashish.

The problem with Rajdeep Singh (Y group) is that he's too busy trying to prove his worthiness to everyone. @ Rajdeep, Where does the buck stop? I think it's about time you decided that.

Moving on.
I'm waiting for PS3. It's going to be released sometime in November since Sony has pushed it's release date back again.

It's going to be Blu Ray enabled.

It's Cell processor has been custom built by IBM.
The cool part here is that it is a vector processor and not your currently immensly popular scalar processors.
This simply means that the "Cell" has the potential to execute several data blocks at once.

Cool.
It is SIMD in nature ( Single Instruction Multiple Data) and packed with a whopping 240 million + transistors. Hell, even the most powerful PC processors might not be able to compare to that.

There is a combo of 8 processors (7 working and 1 as a backup). They're around 3.2 or 3.4 GHz. I do not remember the exact config.

Their hi-fi name is Synergising Processing Elements.

Guess what? It's got Power PC architecture (the same as the Macs).

And now ... the main component that's gonna be responsible for those mega awesome graphicas you're going to be witnessing - The RSX Reality Synthesizer. This is basically the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) and corresponds to the Emotion Engine that did the work in PS1 and PS2 . Only this time around, the RSX is a little too powerful.

Take my word for it.
It's been developed by NVidia.
The cool part about PS3 is that it is backward compatible with PS1 and PS2. This implies that you can play your older ocnsole games on it as well.

Sony's included support for everything other than a floppy disk in it.

Another greatly anticipated enhancement has been the built in network adapter (Ethernet ? I'm not sure about that). You don't have to purchase it separately.

Now since it has USB support you can interface 8 comtrollers at once !!!

Rocking.

The unveiling of PS3's power was done at E3 2005. (Electronic Entertainment Expo 2005, in case you didn't know.) and it created a storm thanks to the mindblowingly megacool graphics.(RSX - Take a bow).

The PS3 has enough firepower to run any modern computer on it's own. That should give you folks an idea about it's computational power.

I'm sorry I was just too excited about this and I've held this back for a looooooooong time.

I know I promised to keep this blog technically free but I cannot help it sometimes.

Who knows? I might just follow this up with an Xbox explanation !!!
Hah.
Goodnight.
A.G
