Kya Khoya Kya Paaya

I've lived in the past for most of the day today.

I think I'm inclining towards the notion that if I could change a few things about it I would.

It's just an inclination so far. No regrets though.

In other news, I'm back to listening to punk.
Yowza look who's alive !

Farewell

The title explains my day to an extent. Had the farewell for our seniors today.

Here's a fact :

I HATE COMPERING.

I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT. $%&^%^&%*^&*^*&(

Sigh ... much better !

The dance was ordinary at best. Nothing to write home about as usual.

Dhruv danced on stage for the first time. I hope it isn't the last time. Admittedly, you can't be perfect the first time but if you persist you're bound to improve.

Had free Coke at the farewell so I'm not complaining much !

I think it would be apt to mention why I chose Wicked as the title for my previous post.
You see Mr. Arneja and I were discussing an incident that occured in WOTC class in the third semester. The teacher had asked the class the meaning of the world wicked and more than half of the class drew a blank face. At this juncture Sariya (who was sitting right next to me in class that time ) remarked Oye wicked matlab clever nah?

Anyways, a few laughs later Mr. Arneja said Vaise ehda matlab darpok (or something to that effect - i.e nowehere even close to the real meaning !) hunda hai nah.

No further comments !!!

Anyways, I see peril in my life within the next month or two. It shall strike multiple times.
I can feel it.

Just got off the phone. Damn it's started already.
Anyways, enough of this.

Goodnight

Wicked

Have had a weird day. Started off well. Ended ...well... umm... not so well.

So we have our final year's farewell tomorrow and I have to compere and dance inter alia.
I do not know what all will be included within the realm of inter alia though.

I hold Mr. Arneja as the sole party responsible for my fate today.
He drove a car, my car, for the first time and almost crashed within the first 30 seconds.

He isn't coming to college tomorrow so all his duties have been shifted to Yours Truly.

Anyways, I still have to submit my RDBMS assignment . I do not , however, understand one thing.
I have checked this with our teacher. The attendence register says I have submitted all assignments, save the last one, so far when in reality I have submitted only 1 out of them.

So miracles really do happen !!!

I'd love to go into the details but I do nto wish to go through it again.
PASS.

Gotta teach Sobby the steps for tomorrow.
Forgive me if I do not make much sense. (But then again, I rarely do, if ever.)

Virtual Memory Management by Windows

I've finally understood how dll files interact with Windows executables.
How code redundancy is avoided and how virtual memory is actually managed by the Operating System.

Figured out how dll s are actually linked to executables.
Guess what?
Windows provides the virtual memory feature by giving each program (and it's instances) unique numbers (Handles in VC++) instead of directly alloting them addresses in memory. That , in turn, enables Windows to move the data and code segments around in the main memory. It cannot, however, cannot delete the data segment although the code segment may be done away with in case new code need to be introduced into the memory from the executable and the current segment no longer fulfils the programs functional criteria. This implies that whenever Windows needs to move a program to a different block in memory, it simply has to alter the program handle in an internal table that it maintains and the changes in the actual physical address are automatically reflected in the table as well.

This also explains the working of SQL injection attacks to a great extent.

Windows is finally going to be moving it's graphics subsystem out of the kernel.
This implies increased stability since the GDI is no longer going to be in Ring 0. This might make Vista a little slow but I think the additional security will more than compensate for that since more than 95% of inherent Windows crashes occur due to a GDI failure.
Yippie !!!
Moreover, Vista won't be supporting EFI booting.

Technology can be fun. If you want it to be, that is.
Hah.
Sorry, I had nothing to talk about so I thought I might as well bore you with things you couldn't care less about.

Poison ...

Well I've opened up my veins too many times
And the poison's in my heart and in my mind
Poison's in my bloodstream
Poison's in my pride
I'm after rebellion
I'll settle for lies.

Is it any wonder that my mind's on fire
Imprisoned by the thoughts of what to do
Is it any wonder that my joke's an iron
And the joke's on you.

Experiments that failed too many times
Transformations that were too hard to find
Poison's in my bloodstream
Poison's in my prideI'm after rebellion
I'll settle for lies

Irrelevant Comments

I have to take a potentially life changing decision within the next few hours. Nobody other than one person has given me any opinion on it so far. Could've used some. Ahh what isn't meant to be, isn't meant to be.

It's funny how you can feel emptiness even in the middle of a crowd. How you can feel left out when maybe you never really fitted in in the first place.

All you see is life passing you by. What do you do when you need a helping hand and all you see is your own reflection?
What if nobody even knows you even need one?

I foresee major changes in store for me in the coming time period. Mentally. Emotionally. Personally. I decline to state it's length for now.

Change is approaching. Fast. And I'm waiting ...
With arms wide open ...

Thinking of a Title Can Be Cumbersome

Parhelion 2006 has just concluded.
I've moderately seriously injured myself again(twice in a week and it's the other leg this time).
The reason for my current state is the same formation. Only this time I was tossed up around 8 feet or so instead of the 3 feet at the Annual function and the 7 feet in the college basement. Fell flat on the floor with a BANG. Dont know how I managed to stay on stage for the next 7 minutes.
Anyways, finally gave a decent performance of MJ. Nothing to write home about but it's decent especially when you compare it to the crap that we did at our annual function.
We were asked to give a special guest performance for the chief guest. In return we were offered soft drinks ( as many as we wanted) along with lunch and "Any other facilities", free of cost offcourse.
Free soft drinks !!!! I'd sell my soul for that . Hahah
Another team from ETC approached me and Mani. They want us to do a video of some sort. I do not know much about this as yet and I do not wish to go into any details. It sounds lame.
Went to the lake as usual after that.

On a different note, I believe our new RDBMS teacher resembles Inderpreet Kaur's elder sister.
While still on the subject, I have not yet come to terms with the fact that I have submitte donly one RDBMS assignment but our teacher's register says I've submitted all of them.
Hmm ...
It's Friday tomorrow (Oops, I mean today) and we have lectures all day so I guess I had better go to sleep.
On second thought, It's almost 2:00 A.M and my happy hours are about to begin. Might as well put them to use.

Gone,Going,Gone

Elation surrounds me.
Thank you God. You know why ;)

Anyways, nothing much happened in college today. Had to give a presentation on hacking today (which had completely slipped my mind)
Couldn't even cover half the points. Didn't have enough time.
Anyways, I have nothing to write about as usual.

Should I? Shouldn't I?
That is the question.

I must go for I have to watch House of Wax right now.
Adios.

Swordfish

It's 12:30 A.M and I've just returned from Jha and Jassi's PG. I was invited to a Chicken and Coke party which was to begin at 10:00. I arrived in time only to discover that nothing was ready. The chicken was still uncooked and I could see no signs of it being in my stomach anytime soon. To make a long story short, I spent approximately 2 hours by myself (Time well spent, by the way). The meal was had. The caretaker is drunk. Jha is still there sitting beside him listening to him ramble and probably offering consolations or advice.

Everybody there loves their cell phones more than life itself.

I plan to watch Swordfish before I sleep, that is IF I sleep at all. I love hacker involved movies !

Feel like talking. Nobody's listening.
Ahh I'd better watch the movie instead.

Still listening to Everytime - Britney (Hahah I can see the smirk on Harkaran's face.) This is just a one off song of hers that I like. She's your's Harkaran !!! ;)

Goodnight.

Don't Let Life Get You Down

We used to stage plays at Tagore Theater back in school.
I just remembered a song from on of the plays titled 'Smike' .

Here are the Lyrics :

Don't Let Life Get You Down

People think they see a mountain

but it's just a little hill.

And the problems that surround them

are just the mood they feel

Coz dangers int he darkness are only in your mind

Better keep your eyes wide open look around

Don't let life get you down

Even though the world might let you down

Coz dangers in the darkness are only in your mind

Better keep your eyes wide open look around

Don't let life get you down

If you think that you're a loser

you're never going to win

You'll never change your situation

unless you think and then begin

Coz dangers in the darkness

are only in your mind

Better keep your eyes wide open look around

Don't let life get you down

Even though the world might let you down

Coz dangers in the darkness are only in your mind

Better keep your eyes wide open look around

Don't let life get you down

Goodnight, Again.

Plans

Everybody says we have mass bunk on Monday. I damn well know the reason behind this. Pretty pathetic , but I have now reached a point where I no longer care if it is or isn't.

In the words of Christ -

Father forgive them for they know not what they do.

Things have been getting a little too weird , even for me.
I've been listening to Kylie (On a night like this ) and Spears (Everytime).
Something must be terribly wrong!!!

I plan to read all day tomorrow.

I plan to watch a movie tomorrow.

I plan to attend class in the evening tomorrow.

I plan to eat burgers from sector 36 tomorrow.

I plan to not sit in front of the comp for more than 4 hours tomorrow.

I plan not to think too much tomorrow.

I plan to make plans tomorrow.
Big ones.

I plan to put the demons of my past behind me tomorrow.

I plan to unravel the mystery of SQL injections tomorrow.

I plan to go to the lake all by myself tomorrow.

Maybe I'll just spend time with myself as usual. I could use someone to talk to !

May the force be with you. (and me most of all - I need a break, badly).

Goodnight.

Skip This

I have nothing to write about right now. Yes, there are issues that I might address but I do not feel like it.
I'm listening to Long way to the top (AC/DC).
Been watching a lot of Seinfeld lately.
Feel like doing something. Gonna be going for a movie with Jha, Jassi and Sobby.
Kharar is on Wed and Thur.
Saw the unofficial Vista video. Yes, it really is pathetic.
Oh, before I forget ...

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee do NOT send me forwarded mails. I hate them as much as I hate my subjects this semester, if not more.
I never read them so why bother sending them?

Most of Himesh Reshamiya's songs are worthless.

Ruchika Mahajan doesn't believe me when I tell her that I can actually speak and read punjabi.

Ruchika Mahajan doesn't even believe me when I tell her I eat golgappas.

It's funny how people don't take my word for a lot of stuff.

Those people are gonna be sorry.

I'm no angel. I'm not even close.

The sooner you realise it the better.

I'd love to write more but I think Satan's calling me.

Coming ...

Hah.

Vista 2006

I shall not delve into the details right now. There's too much to be told. Here's an extremely short summary.
Vista 2006 is over. I doubt if it ever did really began in the first place. I literally tore a muscle preparing for it in the process.
It still hurts. Somehow everyone in college seems to know about this little freak accident.

Compering for college events can be one of the most boring and pointless things to do on this planet. Hardy's coat was no good. Way too big for me.
Anyways, Our duet dance was average ( implying flawed ) though I still believe we have the worst stage in the universe. Green carpets put together with scotch tape are not conducive for dancing or any other thing for that matter. The Best Event Award means nothing to me. Sick stage, Sick organisers, sick overall management.

Bhangra and Gidda were cancelled. Sick. Offcourse we have only one woman to blame. I'm sure you know who she is.

Lame execution of MJ's performance for the group dance. Truly shameful. All of us should go die in the pond near the college and never show our heads again. That should sum it up to a great
extent.
Offcourse Shantanu (CS- FInal Year) deserves much of the blame for this (He was supposed to hand us our costumes for the MJ routine. We had to change in the middle of the sequence - we had another sequence before the MJ and all girls one, which we now refer to as Bhoru Dance.)
This was to be followed by a girl's only performance during which we were supposed to change. We came running backstage only to find Shantanu applauding the all girls performance. Anyways, after Mani exercised his vocal chords on shantanu we finally changed into our new dresses only to find that everybody had missed the cue to enter the stage. What followed, especially in the next 30 seconds, was on stage shouts to each other to get into positions for the formations.

Saurabh : Mani position le

Aseem : Saurabh peeche jaa, peeche jaa.

Sobby : Abhinav jaldi kar, jaldi kar.

Aseem : Mani ...lift. Go go go go go.

(This happened in around two seconds)

Mani, Sobby, Saurabh, Abhinav, Romit : 1........2...........3........

(And i'm air borne).

2 seconds and a whole lot of chaos later ...

Mani : 2nd formation chodo... positions positions positions ......

(Mani and I are scrambling to get to our hats when we see that the other are ready for the formation so we come running
back from our positions for the formation).

Saurabh : Sobby let jaa.

Romit : Chal abhinav, chadh.

Saurabh : Lift!!!!

Aseem : Abhinav khade ho.

Mani : Abhinav JUMP!!!!!!!!!!

Sobby : Abhi JUMPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Saurabh, Romit : JUMP KAR ABHINAV.

Abhinav jumps and the formation is over and everybody rushes to their places. That's when it dawns on us that the next cue has been missed as well.

The above conversation happened in less than 20 seconds.

Offcourse this is not the entire transcript( a LOT on coversing took place during this rather brief moment but you get the general idea.

What followed was a disgraceful performance.
No practice. Zilch coordination. Bad execution. One thing leads to another .

There exists no word in the English language that can document my feelings for what happened yesterday night.I'd love to elucidate on what's been happening int he poast few days but i have to go right now.

Parhelion 2006 shall have to compensate for yesterday. We'll have it no other way.

Feeling like a hyper insomnia para condrioid techno junkie right now.
Goodnight

Hit by a Smooth Criminal

It's 1:12 A.M and I find myself exhausted. Mani and I have just made it through a practice session. We've been thinking of doing an MJ routine (The VMA one - that's includes Billie Jean too baby) and have been practising for the same. This has to be one of the toughest sessions ever.
There will probably be 5 people for the routines but the way things are going it seems that we shall barely be able to manage a single person. Potential candidates for the 5 slots are Mani, I, Saurabh.Abhinav,Sobby, Dhruv, Romit ... That's all I know of right now.
Coordination is going to be minimum I am sure( you see we have just one week left for the Annuals and we still have to prepare this routine and two brand new ones. In my own words - Perfect.
Mani has just dozed off and I am watching The Fresh Prince of Bel Air . Watching a previously downloaded episode.
Anyways, I shall have to be at my multitasking best for two weeks straight. Wish me luck.
And may The Gloved One have mercy on our souls !!!
In Shamur's words - Let The Music Play ...
