A House for Mr. Jha( and Mr. Arneja)

Yes, the unthinkable has happened! We finally found a room for rent good enough for the two ruffians (!) to live in. Offcourse now i know every nook and corner of half of Chandigarh and Mohali now(address wise).
I watched EK AJNABEE with Mr. Jha as my 'date' at FR. The movie went off nicely and we stopped by the main FR plaza to watch this pepsi sponsored dance thingie. A girl (I'd say around 10 years old) was impressive among the lot.
Anyways Mr. Jha then bought a shirt andthen proceeded to buy undergarments (I shall divulge no details here). I,however, was taken aback when i noticed him actually trying to go inf or a colour combination!!! Who the hell cares for colours of undergarments???!?

I have to go to Amritsar with Dad and my brother tomorrow, in the morning so i guess I had better get some sleep now.
Peace out again

Yet Another Post

Yowza I'm back!
The last of my vivas is over and I'm a free bird ('till the 9th of Jan).
Went to a ....umm...a... I don't know what it was exactly but it was supposed to be a movie thingie. Turned out that the 'organisers' failed to turn up (courtesy a delayed viva). So there we were, me and Mr. Jha (the less than 80 percenters) and Messers Atul,Dhruv,Rahul,Gurpreet,Dolly (the academic wiz kids!). You know what... Scholars CAN talk like normal people if they choose too!!!!
lolz.
Anyways, thi was followed by my daily ritual of scavanging for a pg for Mr. Jha and Mr. Arneja which ended on yet another unsucessful note. We then went to sector 15 with Sariya (who shall be addressed as Mr. Sahi from now on). He was the proud recipient of a traffic ticket (though just for one offence when he deserved atleast 3!!). I bought my guitar string and he gave his guitar for repairs.(he had broken it earlier). Me and Mr. Jha proceeded to have dinner after this series of unplanned events and it was there that we discovered that a room was available in phase 3b2 (1356 I think). We went thre at around 10:00 at night and extracted the details and as I type this Mr. Jha is busy on the phone with Mr. arneja(who is the hostel right now) .They are brooding over the prospects of moving into this room.
Our search, offcourse, shall continue in the meanwhile, tomorrow.
Not the ideal way to be spending your holidays but then again :

Sometime's a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

I'll leave you wih this thought.
Good Night
Peace Out

Of Courtesy and Night-Outs

The Ground rule of Elementary Courtesy:

ALWAYS listen to someone when they're talking to you - especially in one-on-one conversations. Avoid fiddling with your mobile phones and avoid phrases like "I'm sorry I wasn't listening" - such acts and phrases are NOT appreciated and cause what almost always transforms into bitterness. (A transformation that seems to have started in my case).

Just like always, none of you shall know what I'm talking about and just like always - maybe that's a good thing.

On a different note, The Winter Ball concluded yesterday (correction today in the morning). It went off well , as expected.
Karma performed for almost for three hours. The vocals were good and so was the lead guitaring. There, however, a lady standing on stage seemingly doing little except pretend to be having a good time out there. Anyways this ended at around midnight which was perhaps the cue for the DJ to strut his stuff.
32 speakers ( which would be more than all the speakers of all the disc of chandigarh combined) blaring out sound in a closed soundproof auditorium with lasers, uv rays and special effects. I think that says it all.
The food was catered to by Essex so that rocked as well. They had pretty much everything imaginable for snacks.
It felt extremely nice to finally be somewhere where sanity still exists. It's a 'cheapskate-free' Ball (so that eliminates the entry for almost all males from my present college.)
Women were drinking as usual (everybody was able to 'hold their drinks') and the clothes just keep on decreasing. The best part, though, was that it is treated as no big deal (probably the way it should be). Change the scene to my present college and you can expect riots within minutes.

Took a round of the school again and man has it gone from cool to supercool!!!
A visit to this particular instituition shall prove my point to you.

I think that should suffice for now.
I haven't slept for more than 6 hours in the past three days and maybe that explains my current languid state.
That's it from me for now.
Peace Out
A.G

Stuck In A Moment - U2

I'm not afraid
Of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me
That I haven't already heard

I'm just trying to find
A decent melody
A song that I can sing
In my own company

I never thought you were a fool
But darling look at you
You gotta stand up straight
Carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere baby

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And now you can't get out of it

Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I will not forsake
The colors that you bring
The nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing

I am still enchanted
By the light you brought to me
I listen through your ears
Through your eyes I can see

And you are such a fool
To worry like you do
I know it's tough
And you can never get enough
Of what you don't really need now
My, oh my

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

Oh love, look at you now
You've got yourself stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I was unconscious, half asleep
The water is warm 'til you discover how deep

I wasn't jumping, for me it was a fall
It's a long way down to nothing at all

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if our way should falter
Along the stony pass

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if your way should falter
Along this stony pass

It's just a moment
This time will pass

Just Another Post

I think i see hell coming my way this week.Offcourse none of you reading this will be able to decipher what I mean by thisa and maybe that's a good thing!

Have to dizzy up my UPS and CD drive, get new guitar strings and get Sariya's guitar fixed. I'm trying to get my hands on 'Carnivore' these days. For the uninitiated, it's software that's classified (FBI stuff).

Anyways, Mr. Arneja and Mr. Jha are in town looking for a PG (they swear to finally shift out of the hostel). They are on the forage for their current mission and I wish them luck for they same. Mr. Jha wants to watch a movie tonight but I believe only crap is being played in theatres today. I also doubt if Chandigarh has any night shows( the 9:00 to 12:00 types). I,however, might join them in this little scheme of things but you never know :

A man with conviction is worth a majority.

Speaking of out-of-towners, Mr. Bhardwaj and Mr. kaushal graced the city with their presence as well. Mr. Bhardwaj, if you read this in time, Please do fetch Mr. Jha's suit for me tomorrow.
The suit is required by me for the Ball tomorrow. The Winter Ball is an annual event of SJOBA (St. John's Old Boys Association). St. John's also happens to be my alma mater.

PRO DEO ET PATRIA

I assure you that the ball is one of the finest parties you can go to. The only hinderence in your path is the fact that it is a johnian-only affair (since 2003). However, johnian's are allowed to bring along their spouse or female companionAs. Your's Truly, however, shall be going as a stag as usual( it's more fun this way!!).Morever, you get to meet up your old buddies. I was witness to the play organised by SJOBA yeterday( at school offcourse, which also happens to be the venue for the Winter Ball). It was all part of the winter fest and the play went off well. The Treasure Hunt is tomorrow (int he morning) but I shall have to give it a miss( I have my DBMS viva tomorrow).I shall be attending the ball in the evening though. Now the Ball usually gets over by around 3:00 am. That is followed by our excursion to the lake and by the time we reach home the clock most certainly strikes 6:30 or so. I shall have just enough time (on the morning of the 25th) to change out of the suit and catch the college bus and appear for my next viva.

I have other issues that I need to resolve as well but they are bet left unmentioned on this blog.

I have to leave to meet Mr. Jha and Mr. Arneja and I presume that Mr. Sandhu and Mr. Saini shall also be present.Let's see if the movie plan works out.

Listening to Pehla Nasha. Brings back old memories. (Stop imagining stuff for God's sake.)

Almost Through

The exams are almost over (only C.P.I to go). Today's exam, however, like D.A.A, did not go according to plan but then again... that's life for you. I'm still thinking about Amrit's Mushroom Kathi which I had with Mr. Sodhi around 1.5 hours ago.
I shall be going with my buddy Hardeep to get the Winter Ball pass in around 10 minutes from now and guess what... they're giving away complimentary passes for the english play on the 22nd as well!!!! yippie!!!!!

Life's gonna be a blast once the exams are over ( who studies for vivas? - other than girls, that is, lolz.)
On a different note, India had amassed 284 runs as i write this with the loss of 9 wickets (against Sril Lanka) with an overall lead of 476 runs which should be enough to ensure them a victory but hey, this is INDIA, ANYTHING is possible.

Happy Birthday Mr. Jha!!!

Here's an observation i made a few months ago... If you drop a soft drink bottle cap ( the ones you get with the 500 ml bottles or larger) it almost always falls upside down.

I think i should make a move now. Hardy must be waiting plus i have to go with Sariya in order to photostat a mammoth amount of CPI topics.
Hasta la Vista dudes n dudettes
Cheers

Unforgiven 2

Been listening to Unforgiven 2 - Metallica . Have been listening to the classics again lately. The song still rocks.

Unforgiven 2 - Metallica

Lay beside me, tell me what they've done
Speak the words I want to hear, to make my demons run
The door is locked now, but it's open if you're true
If you can understand the me, than I can understand the you.

Lay beside me, under wicked sky
Through black of day, dark of night, we share this pair of lives
The door cracks open, but there's no sun shining through
Black heart scarring darker still, but there's no sun shining through
No, there's no sun shining through
No, there's no sun shining

What I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn the stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you?

What I've felt, what I've known
Sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there?, 'cause I'm the one who waits for you
Or are you unforgiven too?

Come lay beside me, this won't hurt I swear
She loves me not, she loves me still, but she'll never love again
She lay beside me, but she'll be there when I'm gone
Black heart scarring darker still, yes she'll be there when I'm gone
Yes, she'll be there when I'm gone
Dead sure she'll be there!

What I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn the stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you?

What I've felt, what I've known
Sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there?, 'cause I'm the one who waits for you
Or are you unforgiven too?

(Solo)

Lay beside me, tell me what I've done
The door is closed, so are your eyes
But now I see the sun, now I see the sun
Yes now I see it!

What I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn the stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you?

What I've felt, what I've known
So sick and tired, I stand alone
Could you be there?, 'cause I'm the one who waits,
The one who waits for you

Oh what I've felt, what I've known
Turn the pages, turn the stone
Behind the door, should I open it for you?
(So I dub thee unforgiven)

Oh, what I've felt
Oh, what I've known!

I take this key (never free)
And I bury it (never me) in you
Because you're unforgiven too

Never free
Never me
'Cause you're unforgiven too!

Forever

Note : Do NOT sing Everything I Do - Bryan Adams from the D major scale (especially if you are a bass voice. Trust me on this one.)

Forever - The Beach Boys

If every word I said
Could make you laugh
I'd talk forever (together my love)
I ask the sky just what we had
Mmm It shone forever (together my love my my my my my my my my my my my
my my)
If the song I sing to you
Could fill your heart with joy
I'd sing forever (together my love my my my my)
Forever
Forever
I've been so happy loving you

Do do do do do do do do do together my love

Let the love I have for you
Live in your heart
And beat forever (together my love)
Forever
Forever
I've been so happy loving you

Baby just let me sing it my baby
I wanna be singin' my baby
Baby baby baby my baby
I wanna be singin'
I wanna be singin' my baby
Oh oh oh oh
My my my my my my

So I'm goin' away
Mmm but not forever
Na na na na
I gotta love you anyway

Duh! (DAA)

Took the DAA exam today.
Nobody had a clue to most questions and to put it succintly:
Mera jeevan kora kaagaz kora hi reh gaya ...
I HATE DAA.

Memoirs of an Idle Mind

I'm back folks!
Have been watching the smooth criminal video (16 times tonight). Jackson can move, period.

Am listening to "Bohemian Rhapsody" - Queen.
Hmm.... so what else... it's 10:31 p.m right now and i shall have downloaded a movie or two or a video or two at the very least by tomorrow morning. Yippie!!!!!

S.A.D went off fine. Not too good and not too shabby but that will suffice for now. Next up is D.C but i shall be studying DAA (the mummy of all subjects) or D.B.M.S (the daddy of all subjects!).
Am fooling around with Billie Jean and We Will Rock You (the original) in soundforge and atomix. Let's see what i can conjure up.
That's it form me for now.
Until next time
cheers

...

It's been a long, gruelling, frustrating and mentally exhausting day . I've been studying this Dumb subject subject called S.A.D (System Analysis and Design) which i firmly believe has no practical importance in the life of a computer engineer. Now, some of you purists out there might beg to differ with me on this one but you're forgetting one thing baby... this is MY blog!!!! I managed 11 chapters - that's 11 chapters of pure cramming without understanding much offcourse. It's courses like these that make me wonder about the purpose of education. Why are we being subjected to such nonsensical (atleast in public opinion) subjects considering the fact that we are soon to be computer engineers? Why cannot P.T.U not inculcate a course on , say, Java or .Net ??? When will they wake up to the fact that we are no longer living in the 20th century?
Anyways, I was feeling much better day before yesterday (@fever et al) but things it seems to be back with a vengeance. :(
I cannot concentrate on studies right now ( Due to this and some other factors as well but thats beyond the point right now.), i cannot sleep (not more than umm.. 2 hours a night - no kidding), and life suddenly looks like a horror movie. Speaking of horror movies, You should see my face right now. The last time i shaved was on december 3 ( and today is december 8!!). I assure you i have more facial hair than ,atleast, Inderpreet Singh as of now!
I feel like typing stuff right now but i'm not sure what to write about. Listening to "Nothing Else Matters" - Metallica.I badly need to waste some time to make myself feel at ease. Maybe blogging will help!!!!! hehe good one ;)
hey i just remembered - Today's John Lennon's 25th death anniversary and they have these shows on star tv lined about him.
Guess I'll watch them for now. Thank God for change!!!!!
Amen

Feeling Better

I've been at the mercy of viral for the past 2 days but thankfully things seem to be getting back to normal.A maximum temperature of 104 degrees was achieved by your's truly but this was by no means the greatest achieved so far. I've pretty much stared at death right in the face (class 5, temp = 107.5 degrees - no kidding). They say once the mercury reaches 108, you're pretty much dead meat. While still on this topic, I would like to mention my other trysts with death/danger/whatever you may call it - snakebite, malaria, typhoid, tonsilitis, gastroenteritis, fractures have had my head literally split in half, consumption of mercury hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide(was kinda sweet in taste!).Maybe now you know why 104 degrees no longer bothers me! (105 - hmm, 106 - whoah , 107 - push the panic button).
I really am hoping to get well really soon because i had planned to learn a few algorithms of DAA in these 2 days and offcourse i couldn't get anything done. I do fervently hope that these exams may speedily pass away.
Moral of the story -
1.Don't mess around with disease.
2.Never underestimate the power of algorithms.
Peace

The Self Esteem Creed

This was given to us by our value education teacher (Bro. W.E Kyle - bless you) in Value Education class in class 10 - makes you think.

The Self Esteem Creed

God made me, I was no accident
I was in God's Plan
And He doesn't make junk, EVER
I was born to be
A succesful human being,
I am somebody special,unique,
Definitely one of a kind,
And I love Me.
That is essential so that
I might love you,too.
I have talents,potentials,yes,
There is greatness in me, and
If I harness that specialness,
Then I will write my name
with my deeds ...
I was born in God's image
and likeness
and I will strive to do
God's Will.

A shabby intro to ...

Alrighthey everybody... here it is
First of all, do NOT expect me to be giving out any tutorials here for i do not wish to spend my entire evening typing in front of a computer screen.
I'd rather go out and have coffee!!!
Anyways, now since that's out of the way let's proceed. In case you didn't know (which you logically shouldn't untill now) this is a little introduction about shaking a leg or two.

Keep these points in mind:

1.ANYBODY can dance.
2.That include you who's reading this line right now.
3.It can be easier than you think or tougher than you could possibly imagine depending on your interest in it.
4.Patience Patience Patience...

That's all i could come up with right now. Do try and keep them in mind.

Ok let's start of with some basic stuff.(The language might be a little informal).

Now before you really start to get moving in a serious manner i would strongly suggest that you give yourself a solid reason why you are doing what you are.(it helps when you're in a slump - not just for dancing but for life in general).

Now there are two basic genres in western dancing (and i'm not talking about jazz, salsa, ballet ... you get the idea).

1.Uprock
2.Downrock

Uprock is basically any movement that you do while 'standing'.
Downrock is ,therefore, an movement that you pretty much don't do while standing!!( you do it sitting or bent etc).

Man i really dont feel like typing a lot right now so ill be brief.

You have stuff like freestyling, breakdancing etc..
Freestyling is essentially doing your thing impromptu.

Breakdancing is a term originally coined by the media. A better word would be "Breaking". It includes many subcategories like popping, locking, skidding, tutting, sliding, waving, floor work, swipes, shuffles, head spins,1990s,2000s, turtles etc etc etc)

Now if you are interested in freestyling then it is highly recommended by me to start off as slowly as possible. Lay more emphasis on execution rather than the number of steps you know. ( There's a huge difference between learning steps and learning how to dance). Moreover, you should try out breaking first. Start off by doing the 6 step (downrock). It's the most basic downrock step of all time.
Hey, I'm starting to sound like an instructor so i shall change the tone now.
Please do feel free to improvise on any step.
Once you are through with basic movements try out waving. It involves illusion and it's fun once you get the hang of it.Now you have all sorts of waving but try some basic arm waves. These again have many types like the 10 step, the 11 step, the 15 step, the 16 step etc...
What you have to do is to move your arms in such a way that it seems as is a wave is passing through them. Raise your arms parallel to the ground and stretched out.now start off from one direction ,say the right, and move your 'joints' sequentially. Initially, frankly, you will be looking stupid don't give up.That's the biggest blunder you can make- DON'T GIVE UP, PLEASE!!!!
Geez, that was a sorry way of putting down the instructions of the wave but i told you i'm not really in the mood for typing this out right now.
All i can say is that this holds meaning if and only if (sounding like my maths teachers) you enjoy it. If you don't then there's no point in carrying on.The greatest reward you get out of this is the feeling that you get when you actually perform...sometime during the dance there comes a stage when you literally get lost and you're not thinking about which step comes next(atleast that's what happens to me), you're just ...Dancing...

I shall conclude this post with lines that i find myself reading every once in a while....over to Michael Jackson:

"Consciousness expresses itself through creation. This world we live in is the dance of the creator.Dancers come and go in the twinkling of an eye, but the dance lives on.On many occasions when I am dancing, I have felt touched by som, ething sacred. In those moments, i felt my spirit soar and become one with everything that exists.
I become the stars and the moon. I become the lover and the beloved. I become the victor and the vanquished. I become the master and the slave.I become the singer and the song. I become the knower and the known. I keep on dancing...then it is the eternal dance of creation. The creator and the creation merge into one wholeness of joy. I keep on dancing...and dancing...and dancing. Until there is only ... the dance"
